OK, almost jump-out-of-my-seat-worthy last night - ye gods, Jason Lezak running down the anchor swimmer for France (BTW - the world record holder at the distance) in the 4x100 relay and saving Michael Phelps's run for eight golds. Phelps owes him three new houses and a couple of cars for that one.

Life lesson for me? You never know what unexpected thing might happen, so keep going even if you worry that all might be lost. It is better to go till your butt falls off and fail than to give up and wonder. Of course, there's nothing like well-earned success.

Life lesson for the French relay team? Shut up and swim. Talking is better done by deeds than by words.

I know, I'm a total USA homer about the Olympics. Sue me.
